Yes, it's true. Mommy was lame this year. Dean and I did not go all out as usual with our costumes. Viola got to be Princess Cinderella like she wanted. Baby Avery is a baby bunny. Mommy was a bunny. Dean dressed up like a dalmation. The dalmation ears were awfully floppy so we switch costumes before he headed out to do his trick-or-treating stint with the kids. I took the first shift. Viola is getting crazy into the whole idea of Halloween now, which is cool. She kept saying, "Let's go to another one!" Meaning, more houses... more candy. So now here I am sitting at the computer dressed like a dalmation, waiting for the next batch of unruly pubescents who are too old to be out candy-seeking. Well, actually, my rule is you have to have a costume, and it has to be a real costume. For example, 'Skater' does not qualify as a costume when you are 14. Baby Avery is enjoying all the excitement and seems somewhat disconcerted about the bunny ears now adorning her little head. She is the cutest little bunny ever, though.
It scares me to think that someday Halloween might go away. More houses are dark each year, it seems. I remember when I was a kid, Halloween was almost as exciting as Christmas. I like that we have traditions like Halloween. I think it is a good one, that makes us walk around in our neighborhood after dark and talk to our neighbors. People are scared of all kinds of things, but somehow I think things like Halloween make us all a little safer. Maybe I am a kook.
Missy doesn't like Halloween so much. Would you if you were a black cat?
