Go read this article about 'hot saucing' as a form of discipline. It's one thing to write a book that advocates it, it is another thing entirely to be a daycare center that practices it:
According to the day-care center’s report, at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday a child bit Naughton’s son above the index finger and broke the skin. The other boy "got hot sauce in his mouth, and sat in time out," the report continued.Putnam and his wife, co-pastor Jacque Putnam, claimed such punishment is accepted practice among child-care workers and that similar practices included using Listerine, lemon juice or "something else that tastes bitter."
(The above from this article)
It makes me think of an article I read once about a boy who survived his father's horrible abuse. His sister did not. Their father made the girl drink a bottle of hot sauce and then threw an iron plate from a woodstove at her when she vomited it back up. She died from her injuries. This is the sort of person that uses hot sauce as a disciplinary tool.
Sorry, you're not going to convince me otherwise.

I think I would kill someone who did that to my child. Likewise with the soap in the mouth thing. Nobody better force my child to do anything as punishment without my permission, which is going to be awfully hard to get. Urggh!!! I feel so badly for those children who have to go through things like this, especially the young ones who don't understand.
Congrats on the pregnancy!!

That is absolutely horrible. Hot sauce? Great. Make your poor kid grow with an aversion to spicy food. What a terrible thing to rob them of.
It's unthinkable that a day-care would even consider doing something like that.
