Spent the day at the ranch. I'm sunburned!
I woke up at 3 or 4 am and was completely parched and woozy feeling. I went to the kitchen and took my temp... 104! Holy moley! I took some ibuprofen and tylenol and went back to bed. When I got up, I took some more drugs and by 10:30 felt well enough to head to the ranch.
I rode for almost three hours today. By the time I got off, it was more like I dragged myself off the horse, noodly legs trailing behind. Apollo was outstanding. He is much smoother on his right lead now. There was no bucking, even when we jumped in the outdoor arena where he tends to get a bit excited. We spent much of the afternoon jumping around with some of the little, teenaged girls at the barn. It was fun. We only had one little run-out over a three foot oxer. It's been a good, long time since we last saw an oxer together, so I can kind of understand it. Not feeling the greatest meant that my legs probably weren't as strong as usual. Still, there was no part of the day that involved me looking up at Horse from the ground and thus, it was a good day. Seriously, though, I've been revisiting my youth a little lately. It feels good to go out and just have FUN and be a little wild.
After I finished up with Apollo, I hopped on Cosette bareback and cantered her about for a while. Foxy is funny, she tries to cut us off so she can get Cosette to stop and nurse her. I need to get up some pics, Foxy is turning grey rather quickly now. Her whole neck is going grey. I can't wait to see how she's going to turn out. Of course, that can take years..
I went to pick up foood at La Pinata on the way home and stopped off at the Learning Express while I waited. They were having a big sale and I ended up walking out with a Melissa & Doug easel for the girls and a hand-painted jewelry box with horses on it for me. I'm such a kid.
Nothing too exciting going on around here tonight. I'm hoping I can walk tomorrow, that's how sore I anticipate being when the ibuprofen wears off.
