• "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" --Mary Oliver

  • Your biggest challenge isn't someone else. It's the ache in your lungs and the burning in your legs, and the little voice inside you the yells, "can't!" But you don't listen; you just push harder and then you hear the voice whisper "can" and you realize the person you thought you were is no match for the one you really are.

Ahh, a week from my weekend..

It used to be not so long ago that the weekends were respite from the weeks.  It appears that is quickly reversing itself... the weeks are now my 'down' time.  I can mindlessly clean house and do laundry while listening to music.  I have time to run out to see the horses and hop on for a ride while the girls are at school.  I get to think of fantastic dinners to cook for the family and cool art projects to do with the girls after school. I even have time to do sit-ups.

Friday night's party was quite the success.  I had a fantastic time with my soccer girls and what a way to round out the season.  Yes, we had a houseful of screaming, giggling 8-10 year olds but man, do they know how to have fun at that age.  I popped five bags of popcorn and put in a movie... despite all my new rentals the girls settled on one from our library: "Aquamarine" and so we backed it up a bunch of times to watch and re-watch the "smooching"... ewww!!  I made 4 batches of pizza dough, rolled out twelve pizzas and the girls went through and made their own- cheese, olives, pineapple, ham, pepperoni, peppers, tomatoes... I was able, thanks to my new and improved kitchen cook 8 pizzas at a go.

Finally, we were ever-so-quietly creeping about, spray painting wooden picture frames in the dark, on the neighbor's lawn.  Then the girls decorated their frames which was pretty fantastic to see all the different ideas they came up with.  We had a sleepover and the next morning I cooked pancakes and eggs.  Had the sleepover just cleared out in time for Sophie and Lila to come over for the afternoon.  The girls made mud pies on the back deck- old style, with big buckets of dirt and lots of water- fantastic.  Then we did more art after cleaning up from that.

Saturday night Dean and I collapsed into bed after have been 'on' for like 48 hours with the prep-time and all... but it was a fabulous weekend.  Dean and I did some grown-up stuff like go through his open enrollment options.  You know, thank god we have insurance.

Took the dogs in for a vet check and shots.  I have to give Dean credit for wrangling the dogs.  Poor Phebes is so old... I'm really worried this might be her last year with us.  But today I will get them registered, better late than never.

Dean and I watched a movie last night and stayed up late talking.  The movie is kinda old but good- Sandra Bullock in Premonition.  There is a funny thing with the time sequence and I like movies like that even if they frustrate me, too.  Anyhow, was a satisfying little thriller and Dean and I snuggled in for the night and ended up talking and kissing and...

well... let's just say it's nice when Avery actually sleeps in her own bed like she did last night. *heh*  So things are good to great around here... we'll see what the week holds for us.  I'll be having the brownie troop over tomorrow afternoon to do a "Computer Smarts" badge with them.  Fun stuff.
