Cricut Card #1: Basics or Mommy learns how to use a glue stick.

I made a card!  It was just for practice but considering my considerable lack of creativity and imagination, I am pleased with the results.

I used the following materials:

Recollections Cardstock Paper: sky blue, teal blue and creamy yellow from the Cape Cod assortment.

1 Scrap of vellum (I used green)

1  K & Co Layered Accent Daisy sticker

Cut-outs from Cricut Stretch Your Imagination:

1 foundation card <card-s> in teal blue

1 Card <Flrsh1-s> in sky blue

1 Card Frame <SandCstl> in teal blue(card front) and sky blue(inside)

1 Layers <Flrsh-s> in yellow

1 Silhouette <flrsh1-s> in yellow

Instructions? Here goes, I'll try.  

 Card Front: 

I set the Cricut to 6-inches and cut the foundation, card<flrsh1-s>, card frame <sandcstl> and layer <flrsh-s>.  This gave me a finished card that is 3-5/8" x 6-5/8" when folded.  I like this size but one of the nice things about the Cricut is that, provided the measurements do not exceed the 12x12 limit, the card can be cut as large or small as you'd like.

Score and fold the foundation.  Score and fold card<flrsh1-s>.

 Glue a piece of colored vellum (green here) to the inside front of the card<flrsh1-s> then glue card<flrsh1-s> to the foundation (foundation will protrude on three side framing the card<flrsh1-s>).  Vellum will be sandwiched between the card and the foundation so make sure all four sides are glued and sealed shut.

Cut out card-frame<sandcstl> ==> there will be 3 rectangular borders in the darker teal blue.  Select the smallest one that frames the edge of the window on the front of card<flrsh-s>.  

Cut out layer<flrsh-s> in yellow, center on the front of the card and glue.  It should fit entirely on the sky blue card.

 Cut out three <accnt31>, use the center cutout as this will cut out the outline, as well.  this card, I cut one <accnt31> from teal blue at 2 1/4 inches, one sky blue at 2 inches and one yellow at 1 3/4 inch .  Glue the teal blue <accnt31> in the lower right quadrant so that it is about 1/2 inch from the corner, centered on the yellow border layer<flrsh-s> and overhanging the edge of the card 1/2 an inch.

Glue the sky blue and then yellow <accnt31>, such that they are bordered all around  by the piece beneath.  Place a 1-inch K & Company daisy sticker in the middle of the yellow <accnt31>.

Card Inside:

Inside the card, I used the wide middle piece from card frame<sandcstl> in sky blue that I embossed with the Cuttlebug as a border.  Arranged the letters from Songbird to spell "Bloom" then added silhouette<flrsh1-s> in yellow, overlapping border.

Wow.  This is a big 'ol post for such a little project.  It was fun, though, and now I can make variants of this to use for, eh, whatever!  I think I might make this a regular thing.  Working on cards, etc. is almost as soothing as ironing- though, I will admit there are times when there is no substitute for ironing in a frenzy surrounded by a cloud of steam.

Regardless- I am happy at how it turned out for my first real attempt at actually making something like this.  Can you tell how proud I am? I love my Cricut and Cuttlebug, too!  I've already wasted enough virtual space on my clever Cricut craftiness.
