Today was one of those days that comes upon you somewhat unassumingly but by the time you get into bed, if you are lucky, you realize you've just had one of your perfect days.
I slwpt in after staying up terribly late reading a terribly good novel. I got to have that half-awake-half-asleep cozy time with just Dean in the bed since Ave was spending the night at a friends. I like having snuggle time with her, too, I just like the languid quality of being able to get up when I want and not because "You need to see this" or "Can you help me..." Again, none of which I would change but makes slow mornings all the more delicious.
Spent most of the day at the ranch. So, the kids fought in the car... it was good natured for the most part. We blasted "Brighter Than The Sun" and sang away. At the ranch, the kids got out Shadow who was totally full of himself and barging all over the place. It was nice to see him so happy and ready to go. Our farrier has given us a totally new horse.
I'm still getting Cosette used to the place. Today I took her to the washrack and gave her a bath. Of course, then I turned her out and rolled, rolled, rolled. But I'm glad she felt good to roll. We groomed Shadow and Cosette and while Dean and Viola rode Cosette in the upper arena, I went down and gave Avery a lesson on Shadow. It made me realize how much I miss being a horseback riding instructor.
After Shadow and Cosette were groomed again and put away and fed and given clean shavings and yada..yada.. I went in with Foxy and gave her a brief grooming. Its almost impossible since she is shedding her winter coat. She is a hairy polar bear. I got a new bridle with a nice, new herm sprenger bit on it- super light snaffle with a french link. Got her saddled up in my dressage gear and headed down to the big arena.
She's huge, but she is a big mover and as soon as I get some muscle on her she's going to be gorgeous. I'll let the pictures do the talking:
