Just needed to do a little blogging. I've been pretty consumed between my writing and my reviewing(I've been reading a book or three a day). I had a treatment- I won't go into details- for this hereditary thing that causes me to be constantly fighting to keep my red blood cell count up. I've even started tracking my hematocrit at home, how much does that rock? It means not quite so many blood draws. Anyhow- treatment- made me seriously ill, like almost dead ill. I literally painted the bathroom with projectile vomit. I know, what do I do, come back and blog and overshare as always. Like people wanna hear about puke. Anyhow, I'm not just being the lazy housewife hanging out eating ice cream out of the container. No, that was me BEFORE I got so sick. Anyhow, I survived with minimal kidney and liver damage and I guess my liver rocks. My hematologist/oncologist says it's my high fiber diet that kept me from being 6 feet under. I do eat alot of fiber. When you have to take- er, gobble iron supplements and then alternate with calcium supplements, you gotta get yer fiber or you are gonna be one, sad, constipated mother.
Anyhow, the silver lining to all this down time has been getting to read a ton of books. Now, I read alot of YA(young adult) fiction beause I like to screen it before my kids read it and I sort of have a knack for reviewing in that category AND I like that there is usually a little romance but there are no throbbing members and no bodice-busting-brestage described over and over again in every cliched way possible. So yeah, I get my little romance fix there.
Also, reading YA books keeps me away from books like Wave that I recently did read and review- it was about a woman that lost her mother, father, husband and two sons while vacationing in Sri Lanka when the tsunami hit. Can you imagine losing that much in one fell swoop? Unfortunately, I can, so I spent the four hours it took for me to read it sobbing and blowing my nose and then my sinuses got all backed up and I'm immunosupressed right now so I I had to use nose spray so I didn't end up with a sinus infection and I HATE nose spray.
I've been trying to photograph the girls lately but they are such a pain about it. I guess I have had a camera in their faces their whole lives, so...
Anyhow, I will insert some of those photos. Been getting back into photography and still writing manically. Book should be on shelves soon. Publishing under a different name to protect the guilty(mostly me) and the innocent(mostly everyone else). Have a really awesome multi-media project oming up over the next year or so which I will hopefully be able to link to here, especiall if it becomes syndicated. Life is not boring even if I'm on the computer all the time. Writing is like living another life in another world, you know?
Things are good. So very good.
It's true, the past couple years have been rough- lots of change and loss- losing friends and family, changes with working and health issues... just living HERE. But I'm still here. WE'RE still here, and that counts for more than I can express with words.
