OKay, so you knew this was going to be a recurring feature. I can't think of a better way to document life on the farm for the girls than by showing them what's in the freezer today in, say, oh, twenty years or so.
After my underwear drawer, the freezer holds some of my most prized and valued items: ice and ice cream. Currently, the freezer was a bit bare in the ice cream department: Dreyer's Vanilla, Safeway Select LIGHT Rocky Road(usually I prefer Dreyer's-- but I've been known to buy inferior quality in order to get sale pricing-- I'm a whore for a bargain) and Haagen Daz Rum Raisin. Also, a pile of otter pops and a couple of stray pureed fruit popsicles were uncovered.
See all the ice in there? Those ice cube trays are freezing the ice cubes that will be fed into my Waring Professional Ice Crusher. The crushed ice is then transferred to those fabulous red partay cups where they await munching in the freezer. This is what truly makes the freezer dear to me-- all that crushed ice. I love my ice.
What else is in there? Butter, peas, Lemongrass Chicken Stix, Chicken Masala, soft pretzels, country stle hash browns, tube-o-ground-turkey, wild blueberries, arborrio rice(don't ask me why I feel compelled to keep rice in the freezer but it is one of my eccentricities)...
Gosh! And how could I forget the Belgian Waffles, the bean and beef burrito, garlic naan, artichoke-stuffed rigatoni, and of course...
Pillsbury Pie Crusts! Just unroll, fill and bake!! I love knowing that at 3am in a fit of insomnia, I can open my freezer door and gaze upon that happy little dough-boy face. What beautiful blue eyes you have!
What's in YOUR freezer? Send me a link to your post (must include pictures) and I'll send you something good! Might be (hint hint) a delectable jar of Dilettante Carameled Cream which you can eat straight from the container like I do or be a wuss and pour it over your ice cream. Either way, you'll never be the same. It'll be so worth it. I swear.
